This initiative is intricately tied to the coastal monitoring strategy employing advanced automated methodologies. Its core objective revolves around crafting an array of tools geared towards capturing real-time data concerning the presence and movements of marine species.
Acoustic telemetry emerges as a pivotal technology for monitoring benthic and demersal species, particularly those of commercial significance. Its versatility extends to oceanic environments for tracking migratory species and to coastal regions for monitoring resident species. While the potential applications of acoustic telemetry encompass both management aspects such as assessing population structure, invasive species monitoring, and survival rates, as well as conservation endeavors like supporting marine protected areas, its integration into observation platforms in Galicia remains pending.
From a pragmatic standpoint, ensuring real-time reporting and analysis of data stands as a cornerstone of the coastal monitoring strategy. Thus, our proposal entails the development of requisite technology and methodologies to facilitate the seamless implementation of real-time monitoring for living marine resources utilizing acoustic telemetry.
